# Rules

The 13 boxes, the bonus, the joker rule and the three-column variant.

A game has 13 rounds. In every turn exactly one box of your own pad is filled in. Whoever has the most points at the end wins. In a tie, all tied players win and share the pot.

## Upper section

Ones to Sixes each score the sum of the dice showing that number.

From 63 points in the upper section there is a bonus of 35 points (`Config.UpperBonusAt`, `Config.UpperBonus`).

## Lower section

| Box | Condition | Points |
| --------------- | -------------------------- | --------------- |
| Three of a Kind | at least three of a kind | sum of all dice |
| Four of a Kind | at least four of a kind | sum of all dice |
| Full House | three of a kind and a pair | 25 |
| Small Straight | four numbers in a row | 30 |
| Large Straight | five numbers in a row | 40 |
| Dice Kings | five of a kind | 50 |
| Chance | anything | sum of all dice |

## More Dice Kings

Once the Dice Kings box holds its 50 points, every further five of a kind scores 100 points extra (`Config.ExtraKingsBonus`), on top of the box it is written in.

## Joker

The joker rule applies to a further five of a kind when the Dice Kings box is already filled in (crossed out counts too) and so is the upper box of its number. It then counts as a Full House, Small Straight or Large Straight with full points.

`Config.JokerRule` sets how strict this is:

| Value | Effect |
| ------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `'free'` (default) | The player may write the five of a kind wherever they like |
| `'forced'` | It has to go in the upper box of its number while that is free, after that in a lower box while one is free, and only then anywhere. Boxes that are not allowed are marked with × on the pad |
| `false` | No joker. It scores like any other throw |

## Three columns

`Config.Columns = 3` plays the long game of 39 rounds. Every player fills three columns in any order. The second counts double, the third triple. Bonus, joker and more Dice Kings apply per column.

The three-column variant has its own leaderboard.
