# Troubleshooting

Fixes for the problems that come up most often with Quackmobil.

## The head looks out of curves instead of into them

Set `Config.Head.SteerFactor` to a negative value, for example `-0.9`.

## The eye lights are too weak or too strong

Adjust `Brightness` and `Distance` in `Config.EyeLights.LowBeam` and `HighBeam`.

## The flight key does nothing

* Check that `Config.Flight.Enabled` is `true`.
* Check the permissions, `AllowedJobs` and `AcePermission`. A player without permission gets the `FlightDenied` message.
* Job restrictions need `qbx_core`, `qb-core` or `es_extended` to be running.

## Other players do not see the duck flying

OneSync has to be enabled on the server.

## The quack does not work with a controller

Set `Config.Horn.KeyMapping = false`.

## The console shows "props for ... not found"

The files `stream/*_props.ytyp` are missing or not loaded. Download the resource again from the Portal and upload every file.

## Using the item does nothing

* The item has to be in your inventory's item list, with the exact name from `Config.Item.Items`. See [Items](/organized-chaos-docs/quackmobil/items.md).
* Start `quackmobil` after your framework and inventory. The console says `did not start: the duck items are not usable` when the framework from `Config.Item.Framework` never came up.
* With ox\_inventory on its own, the item needs `server = { export = 'quackmobil.useItem' }`.
* The player gets the `PutDownNotNow` message in a vehicle, while swimming, falling or climbing.

## There is no "Pick up duck" option

* The option only shows on ducks that came out of an inventory. Ducks from `/car`, a shop or a garage have none.
* It needs `ox_target` to be running, or a target script of your own with `Config.Item.PickUp.Target = false`.
* Nobody may sit on the duck. With `PickUp.OwnOnly`, only the player who set it down sees the option.

## The duck disappears right after it was set down

With `Config.Item.Remove = true` the item is taken out of the inventory once the duck is there. If the inventory cannot remove it, because the item was moved or dropped meanwhile, the duck goes again. Use the item once and wait for the duck.

## The duck sinks or floats too deep

* Lower `fPercentSubmerged` in `data/handling.meta`, for example to `35.0`, so it floats higher.
* Make sure `data/vehicles.meta` is unchanged. All three ducks need the vehicle type `VEHICLE_TYPE_AMPHIBIOUS_AUTOMOBILE` there.
* Players need to reconnect after a change to these files.

## The duck does not move on water

Check that `Config.Swim.Enabled` is `true`.

## The duck is too slow or steers badly on water

Raise `MaxSpeed`, `Acceleration` or `TurnRate` in `Config.Swim`.

## Respraying the duck changes nothing

That is intended. The colours are part of the textures.
